UniSA - ITEK - The Commercialisation Company of the University of South Australia

UniSA Overview

Itek is responsible for identifying and protecting Intellectual Property (IP) generated within UniSA. Our aim is to create commercial value from the IP for the University and the creators.

UniSA owns all IP created by its staff. Staff members are responsible for disclosing all IP to ITEK - the sooner the better. To achieve our aim, we bring together a team of hands-on professionals with an understanding of commercial realities.

At ITEK, our aim is to turn new technologies, products and processes into viable business ventures.

All research conducted through the University of South Australia remains the Intellectual Property (IP) of ITEK, the university’s wholly-owned commercialisation company. By protecting and commercialising this research we strengthen our researchers’ and UniSA’s reputations as world leaders in innovation.

It also creates financial rewards for all concerned. The sharing of Net Revenue with the creator of Intellectual Property will generally be up to a maximum payment of 100% of the first $20,000 and up to 40% thereafter of the total accumulated Net Revenue.

To achieve our aim, we bring together a team of hands-on professionals who can assist with everything from assessing your research’s commercial potential to managing and growing the business. This means you'll have plenty of time to concentrate on your research.
