Within ITEK all the critical capabilities and expertise necessary to bring a new idea, invention or technology to market are available. This includes:
Commercialisation Advice, Planning and Implementation Strategies
ITEK’s experienced team can provide guidance on licensing or creation of a spin-out to commercialise your Intellectual Property (IP). Advice on the most appropriate commercialisation strategy to deliver your IP/technology to the market is readily available to academic staff, researchers, students and inventors.
Research Collaboration and Networks
ITEK has well established links and/or collaboration agreements with multiple organisations including research institutes and industry partners in various market segments.
Intellectual property (IP) Protection & Management
ITEK has very strong relationships with major patent and trademark attorneys nationally, who assist with defining IP strategy and in registering (protecting) IP on ITEK’s behalf.
Pre-seed Funding & Investment
ITEK supports research projects through its own Catalyst Fund to achieve Proof-of-Concept (PoC) and actual Prototype development. In addition ITEK has established relationships the TTCF and other Australian VCs (AVCAL) and Angel Investor groups – see Venture Capital SA.
Company Formation, funding & Growth
The correct company structure or business deal structure can be critical in protecting investors, shareholders and inventors. Guidance and practical advice is also available to researchers interested in the entrepreneurial and business aspects of bridging the academic/industry divide.
Legal Advice/Counsel
ITEK has its own experienced legal counsel for advice covering all regulatory and legal aspects of commercialisation, including industrial contracts (formulation and review) to IP licensing, patent reviews and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
product Licensing
ITEK provides a range of accounting services to a number of Joint Venture (JV) and Spin-out companies it invests in. ITEK also manages collection and distribution of royalties on behalf of inventors/researchers, investors and the University of South Australia.
Education and Training
ITEK holds/delivers a number of workshops covering IP and commercialisation throughout the year. In addition ITEK provides access to the Knowledge Commercialisation Australia and the Australian Institute of Commercialisation (AIC) courses.
