About ITEK - ITEK - The Commercialisation Company of the University of South Australia
About ITEK
ITEK is a commercialisation company wholly owned by the University of South Australia. Its strategy is to create long-term value through the licensing of Intellectual Property (IP) and the creation of spin-off companies from research conducted at the University.
ITEK's primary objective is to deliver long term economic value and community benefit from research conducted at the University of South Australia. These benefits are many and varied, but focus on commercialising technology by applying knowledge to create and grow companies, products and services, establishing and developing collaboration opportunities with industry, building the University and Schools reputation and delivering a financial return.
Commercialisation opportunities are managed through a staged process of development that sees increasing levels of resource committed as the commercialisation opportunity is firmed up and risk is reduced. This approach results in a pipeline of commercialisation opportunities at varying stages of development and maturity.
ITEK is here to help take your research to the marketplace.
Without any upfront cost to you, ITEK can:
- Raise your profile as a generator of commercially valuable research outcomes.
- Provide access to early stage capital to complete Proof of Concept (PoC) and Prototype development through the dedicated ITEK 'Catalyst Fund'.
- Advise and execute on the protection of your Intellectual Property.
- Appoint a Project Manager experienced in the commercialisation process to work with you in fleshing out the commercial potential for your research.
- Provide feedback and guidance to influence research direction towards PoC in areas offering commercial potential.
- Help with prototype development, production and testing. This may include assistance from other UniSA research staff and facilities.
- Market research to identify industry structure, size and possible development partners.
- Develop a commercialisation plan in consultation with you. This plan can then be used to attract external funding, including grants where eligible.
